양파

이웃이 양파 두 알을 나눠주었다.

하나는 먹고, 다른 하나는 망에 담아 그늘진 곳에 걸어두었다.

며칠이 지나고, 뿌리가 잘린 양파에서 싹이 났다.

도려내고 먹을까 고민하다 볕이 좋길래 창가 화분에 올려놨다.

그런데 사흘만에 싹이 한 뼘 넘게 자랐다.

양파의 열정이 이웃과 닮았다.

My neighbor gave me two onions.

I ate one and put the other in a net in the shade.

A few days later, even though the roots were cut off, it sprouted.

I thought I'd cut it up and eat it, but I planted it in a pot by the window.

In three days the sprouts grew a lot.

Onion's enthusiasm resembles that of its neighbor.
